Mrs. Adriana Vargas - Instructional Coach

By Rancho Verde High School

A proud resident of Moreno Valley since she was 5 years old, and former VVUSD student herself (El Potrero, Victoriano, and Vista Verde), Adriana Vargas is our Instructional Coach for English. While most of her duties involve teacher and instructional support, the ultimate goal is to help the staff do what is best for STUDENTS. If she is not in her office organizing meetings and professional development opportunities for teachers, or at a conference or training, then she is most likely in and out of classrooms or around the campus sharing and helping in any way she can. Her particular passion is assisting with building a positive culture and climate on campus, and encouraging high levels of fun and engagement in the classrooms, while keeping up the rigor and academic expectations for both teachers and students.

As far as her educational background, Ms. Vargas earned two Bachelor Degrees from UCR in 2007 in Spanish Literature and Psychology. Upon graduation, she immediately began working as a long term substitute at RVHS and decided to pursue a Teaching Credential from the University of Redlands in order to become a teacher.  After the credential program, she was awarded a scholarship from the University of Alcala de Henares in Madrid, Spain to get her Masters Degree in Spanish Language and Culture. In the two years she lived there, she earned her MA and taught English at an Elementary school, Villa de Mostoles.  In 2010 Ms. Vargas returned to the States and was hired at Rancho permanently as a Spanish Teacher. She quickly became the Department Chair of World Languages, and taught Spanish I, II, III and Native Speakers. Here at Rancho she is an active member of the Culture and Climate Committee, advisor for FNL (Friday Night Live, a Riverside County initiative to keep kids off of drugs and alcohol), and the advisor for the Feminist Alliance Club.

In her free time, Ms. Vargas loves to travel and spend time with her family. Every year she organizes summer trips for students and parents to visit Spain, Italy, France, Greece, and Costa Rica through a company called EF Tours. When she is not globetrotting, she is at home with her husband Sergio, who also is an employee of VVUSD, and her son Alonso, who is now a student at El Potrero Preschool! She also enjoys salsa dancing, eating healthy, and working out.  Should you want to communicate with Ms. Vargas, please email her or follow her on social media.

By Rancho Verde High School

Emily Vazquez is a graduate of the Val Verde District, the district she currently serves. She attended schools in Val Verde Unified for grades K-12 and is a Rancho Graduate.  When she was in high school she began to notice that she enjoyed math and that it was something that came easy to her compared to other subjects. Unfortunately, she didn’t have many financial opportunities available to her but she was determined to put herself through college so she spent a few years at Riverside Community College where she really found that she had a gift for teaching. She became a tutor at RCC and helped people of all ages and skill level. She was then hired to work at RCC’s Math Lab and eventually became the Tutorial Services Supervisor until her first day teaching at her alma mater, Rancho Verde High School, and has been here ever since. She is a passionate educator with expertise in secondary curriculum development, classroom management, and relationship building. During her time as an educator at Rancho Verde High School she has received numerous awards, including New Teacher of the Year and Math Teacher of the Year for Riverside and San Bernardino County.  Over the last few years Emily has been a question writer for the EADMS bank, BTSA provider, a district lead for numerous courses, AP Coordinator, a consulting teacher, a club advisor, HP Prime Presenter, and creator of tutoring program offered in our district.  She recently received her Masters from Loyola Marymount in Math Education.  She looks forward to sharing her knowledge and classroom experiences with you, parents, students, and staff.
